Parsons on Butkus list

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State junior linebacker Micah Parsons was named to The Butkus Award watch list, it was announced on Monday.

The award honors the nation’s top linebacker. Parsons was a finalist for the award in 2019.

Elsewhere in football:

n Penn State senior safety Lamont Wade was named to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award watch list, it was announced on Monday by The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Association.

n Penn State junior tight end Pat Freiermuth was named to the John Mackey Award watch list, it was announced on Friday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.

n Pitt junior safety Paris Ford was named to the 2020 watch list for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award annually presented to college football’s top defensive back, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Association announced Monday.

n University of Pittsburgh graduate transfer Lucas Krull was named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, annually presented to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
