God, in his mercy called Steve home, releasing him from a long and courageous battle with alcoholism.
Steven E. Ribbing, Jr., 38, of Jamestown, N.Y., was called home on Thursday evening, August 20, 2020, at his home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born August 8, 1982 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of Steven E. and Kay B. Kelly Ribbing.
Steve attended Levant Christian School and later Falconer Central School where he graduated in 2000. He was a proud member of the Falconer Central School 2000 New York State baseball championship team.
Steve will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his wonderful sense of humor, his kind heart and his unconditional love for his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his nephews and nieces and of course “Frisky” and “Sadie.”
Steve attended Jamestown Community College and the University of Buffalo where he received two associate degrees and was pursuing a degree in nursing. In his youth, Steve attended Levant Wesleyan Church and currently attended Fluvanna Community Church. Steve was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed the challenge and the camaraderie of participating in any sporting event and he would talk sports with anyone at anytime.
Surviving are his parents, Steve and Kay Ribbing of Jamestown, two brothers; Michael (Laura) Ribbing of Rochester, N.Y., Jon (Melissa) Ribbing of Columbus, Ohio; his maternal grandmother Bonnie Nash, of Chautauqua, his nieces and nephews; Kyler, Carrie, Jenna, Daniel, Seth, Nathan, Brynn, Kaleb and Jadyn Ribbing and Tenia, whom he loved as his own daughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew E. Ribbing who died May 22, 2019, a nephew, Damian Bailey Ribbing, who died Aug. 24, 2019, his paternal grandparents, John E. and Dorothy Ribbing and his maternal grandfather Charles Nash.
Due to the current co-vid-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you please find someone who needs help and help them.
