Steven Edward (Steve) Cooley, 63, died July 8 at his home in Williamsport, of natural causes. Due to COVID the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Steve was born August 9, 1956 in Kansas City, Kan. He graduated from Loyalsock Township High School and attended college in Missouri to receive his associate degree in business management. Steve was a natural salesman and enjoyed talking to people. Everyone was a prospect to a new friendship. He had a love for life and made the most of each minute.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Harold Eugene Cooley, and brother-in-law, John Wisniski Jr. He leaves behind his mother, Penny Cooley; two sisters, Nita Gene Wisniski, Karen Ann Zurbruegg and her husband Edwin Zurbruegg; two daughters, Melissa Mae Kibler, and Charlene Rae Cooley; two nephews, Adam Zurbruegg, and Daniel Zurbruegg; four grandsons: Aaron Oglesby, Draig Cooley-Ruff, Kyree Cooley, and Wesley Young.
Steve loved sports and was a gifted athlete. He played basketball in school, studied karate as a young man, shared the love of golf with his father and was a super fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Steve’s favorite athlete was his grandson, Draig, whose superstar athletic abilities he took the credit for passing down.
It saddens the family that we can’t gather with Steve’s friends and hear stories from the people who spent the most time with him. We know how much Steve liked to talk so we know some friends may have a lot to say. Please email Karen Zurbruegg memories that you’d like to share with the family. We would really love to hear about the man we will all miss so much.
