Surrey Heath Sports Awards 2021

Surrey Heath Sports Awards 2021

This year saw Camberley Judo Club’s very own Olympic hero Ashley McKenzie presented with an Olympic Achievement award to recognise his accomplishments.

His impressive CV includes a Commonwealth gold medal in 2014, as well as being a triple Olympian.

Congratulations to the SHSA 2021 winners:

The Massage Company Sporting Moment of the Year – Harley Coster (JB Ski)

Surrey Security Community Project of the Year – Surrey Heath Primary School Sports Association (SHPSSA)

The SHPSSA’s dedicated group of teachers, coaches and PE leads innovated to ensure Surrey Heath’s primary schools had plenty of opportunities for students to be active during what has been a particularly difficult period.

Surrey Playing Fields Volunteer of the Year – Alison Butler (C&F Hockey Club)

Alison has been running the junior section at C&F Hockey club since 2013, and has helped it expand to over 200 members. She also coordinates hockey festivals, and acts as the club Welfare Officer.

Herrington Carmichael Disability Sports Award – Simon White (Valley End CC Rascals)

Simon’s coaching has played a huge part in the Rascals’ success. He ensures all players have equal opportunities to develop skills and improve confidence.

Complete Coaching Outstanding Service Award – Barry Snell (Surrey Soo Bahk Do)

Barry has been a dedicated Soo Bahk Do coach for over 32 years and offered his skill to all ages and abilities, which included supporting his club following local lockdowns with free outdoor sessions.

The nominees were shortlisted by an internal panel before the winners were selected by the Surrey Heath Sports Council last month. Thank you to our generous sponsors.

The awards ceremonies are taking place in a roadshow format, with winners presented with their trophies in locations across the Borough.

We’ll add more photos of the winners as the awards are presented – check back here for more photos, and keep an eye on our social media channels.
