Tablighi Jamaat Markaz chief Maulana Saad, who continues to evade police questions, changed houses recently. According to sources, Maulana Saad got himself tested for novel coronavirus at a private lab and after his reports came back negative, he changed his residence.
Even though, sources say, he has moved only with the same locality Zakir Nagar in Delhi.
Maulana Saad has been served multiple notices by the police to appear before it for questioning in connection with the Nizammudin Markaz event that later emerged as the key cause of novel coronavirus outbreak in India.
Many members of Tablighi Jamaat, who had attended the congregation last month, died due to Covid-19 infection, whereas over thousands have tested positive and are being treated.
Delhi Police has registered a case against the Markaz chief for culpable homicide and several other charges linked with violation of the lockdown.
Earlier, the Markaz chief could not be questioned as he was under isolation, but now his isolation period has ended. He, however, is yet to appear before the police.
The police have asked 18 people to join the probe including Maulana Saad. Police have also issued a look-out-circular against around 2,000 Tablighi Jamaat members including the foreign nationals so that they can’t leave the country.
According to sources, during the isolation period, Maulana Saad had provided answers to a few questions and told the police he did not have access to details about the other queries since he was in self-isolation.
Saad allegedly encouraged the gathering of Tablighi Jamaat members at Nizamuddin during the lockdown which resulted into the death of many members while over a thousand have been tested positive for Covid-19.
