Thiruvananthapuram: The B.Tech exam results of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University have been published. Vice-chancellor Dr MS Rajashree said that although the exams were postponed by more than 40 days, the University was able to publish the results on time. The final semester exams of the second batch of B.Tech students were completed on August 20, 2020.

38,002 students took admission to this batch in 23 different engineering streams in 2016. Out of this, 32,645 students from 145 colleges were eligible to appear for final year examinations. 5357 students were either demoted to a lower semester or changed their course in between. 16,017 students passed in the exam out of the total 34,416 students who appeared. The total pass percentage is at 46.53. The pass percentage of the government, government-aided, government-controlled autonomous and private autonomous colleges are 62.93, 65, 50.06 and 41.6 percent respectively. Out of all the important streams, computer science has the highest pass percentage.

Muthoot Institute in Ernakulam and College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram has the highest pass percent among the colleges. The maximum number of students who attended the examinations was from TKM College of Engineering (781), Rajagiri College of Engineering (764) and Amal Jyothi College of Engineering (693) with pass percentages of 64.51, 75.26 and 59.31 respectively.

13694 girls registered for the examination and 8515 (62.18%) students passed in the first sit itself. However, the percentage of boys registered for the examinations is 60.2% , their pass percentage is only 36.2%. A total of 275 SC/ST students out of 1225 (22.44%) have qualified for the award of B.Tech degree under KTU. The pass percentage of lateral entry students is 40.11% (901/2246). Out of the 145 colleges affiliated under KTU, 35 colleges are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) as on date. Out of the 15342 students who appeared from these colleges, 8994 students passed the examinations. The percentage pass of students from NBA accredited institutions is 56.15 percentand is around 11 percent more than the state average.

Students with a cumulative grade point average of more than 8 till fourth semester are eligible to apply for B.Tech honours. They need to study 4 additional papers including 2 online MOOC courses and earn 12 credits for B.Tech Hons. Out of the 145 colleges, students from 20 colleges became eligible for B.Tech hons. Among these 16017 students who have passed the B. Tech examination, 1286 students are found to be eligible for awarding of B. Tech (Honours) Degree. Amongst, TKM College of Engineering have the maximum of 181 students followed by Amal Jyothi College of Engineering with 114 and MA College of Engineering Kothamangalam with 112 students.

Akhil P Mohan, Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering Thiruvanathapuram, Alexander Joseph V Paul, Mechanical Engineering, MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam and Aayisha S Ahmed, Civil Engineering, TKM College of Engineering secured the highest grade points in the exam. They received 9.94, 9.85 and 9.84 grades respectively.

Apart from the pass percentage, the academic performance of students of an institution is also evaluated through the Academic Performance Index. The colleges with maximum API are the College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (6.46), Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (6.40) and Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (5.92).

The Provisional Certificates of all students who passed the exam will be issued free of cost before 25th of September. PCs will be issued institution-wise as per a timetable to be published.

Grade Card: The soft copies of the semester grade cards (Mark lists) are already available in the respective student login. The Cumulative Grade Point average (CGPA) of the whole semester is available in the grade card of eighth semester. However, University will issue Consolidated Grade Card in the form of a transcript, free of cost, institution wise within 3 weeks. GCs will also be issued Institution-wise as per a timetable to be published.

Degree Certificate: The registration for degree certificates will commence soon in the University Portal. Degree Certificate will only be sent through speed post.
