Sooji milk cake is easy to make at home.
Festivities are not complete without traditional Indian sweets. This year, Teej may not be celebrated with the same fervour as before, as most of us are avoiding outside food and sweets from sweet shops, but that doesn’t mean you have to put a damper on the celebration vibe. Make your own mithai at home, and if you don’t want to put in too much effort in it, here’s a super easy recipe of milk cake that you can make in minutes with just a handful of ingredients.
Traditional milk cake is made with condensed milk, mawa, malai etc. This sooji milk cake can be made without all these and uses ingredients that must already be there in your kitchen or can be easily procured from the market. Sooji or rava makes this sweet crunchy and grainy. Just make sure to use finely powdered sooji; if you don’t have it, you can grind your sooji to make it finer.
The quick milk cake recipe video from YouTube channel ‘Cook With Parul’ will help you make this mithai at home. Roast sooji in ghee till it releases ghee, remember not to over-brown it. Add milk powder (you can easily get in the stores). Turn off the gas. Add milk powder that will lend the elements of both milk and mawa-like creaminess to the milk cake. Also, add sugar syrup with the flavour of cardamom powder.
Grease a tray with oil, and pour the mixture in it and let it set. It won’t take more than 15-20 minutes. Then, cut it into desired shapes and garnish with dry fruits of your choice.
You’ll get soft, melt-in-mouth milk cake that will make Teej celebrations joyful like always. You can also make these in a large quantity and store it in the fridge till Rakhi to enjoy this amazing festive-special sweet again.
