The Asus ROG Phone 3 has a lovely 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a joint-fastest refresh rate of 144Hz on a phone. It turns out, the panel can run even faster – up to 160Hz to be exact.

The guys over at XDA-Developers found an Android Debug Bridge command that enables the ROG Phone 3’s panel to run at an experimental 160Hz for testing and everyone with basic ADB knowledge can enable it (instructions in the source link below).

XDA has confirmed that the screen does indeed run at 160Hz and that some games, capable of 144fps, being technically fps-unlocked, can run at 160fps. We verified in our review that games such as 1945 Air Force, Mortal Kombat and Death Trigger 2 are all capable of running at 144fps on the ROG Phone 3.

Being an experimental mode, Asus hasn’t fully optimized the panel to run on it. Thus, enabling it could cause issues with performance, calibration, battery consumption and even with the hardware itself. So if you plan on tinkering with your new, not in the least bit cheap, Asus ROG Phone 3 display, proceed at your own risk.
