BEVERLY — Since performances have been unable to take place at The Cabot due to COVID-19 restrictions, a different venue has become alive with the sounds of music.

Historic Beverly and The Cabot have partnered to bring The Porch Sessions performances to Hale Farm, an historic one-acre parcel located in the heart of downtown.

The Porch Sessions have taken place at Hale Farm for the past few weekends, and have included performances from Tom Rush, Jacyn Tremblay & Scott Tarulli and comedian Juston McKinney.

“Historic Beverly is delighted to see that Hale Farm, which has benefited from Community Preservation Act funding, be used for such an entertaining purpose, and that so many people are enjoying these wonderful events,” said Sue Goganian, director of Historic Beverly.

So far, all of the performers have had the pleasure of playing to sell-out crowds. The current schedule of upcoming performances has also sold out.

“It’s been wonderful for us to welcome back our patrons to this unique and beautiful outdoor location at the Hale Farm in downtown Beverly,” said J. Casey Soward, executive director of The Cabot. “The artists love it and we’ve all felt very safe being together in this environment. Because of the capacity restrictions, the shows are all selling out very quickly, and my only wish is that more people could get to experience these shows.”

Those who attend must follow social distancing guidelines; in addition, ticketing has been limited to 40 people, with tables spaced over 6 feet apart. Patrons are required to complete a COVID questionnaire and wear a mask when entering and exiting the venue, as well as when not at their table.

At each of the events, attendees may enjoy a selection of beer from Newburyport’s Riverwalk Brewing Co., as well as wine and bottled water. Boxed dinners and appetizers have been served by Root, a North Shore non-profit whose mission is to help young adults create a pathway to independence through food service training and employment.

Proceeds from The Porch Sessions series, which is sponsored by the Loring Family, will go toward supporting The Cabot’s reopening and Historic Beverly.

Though the current lineup has sold out, more artists will be announced for The Porch Sessions in the coming weeks.

“It’s been great to be able to support these wonderful artists and to be able to bring back some of our staff to work the events,” Soward said. “We get to work with two great nonprofits, Historic Beverly and Root, and to bring a sense of community and humanity to those who come, if even for just a short time. It’s been a blast!”
