You can add four more individuals into the Wagner College Sports Hall of Fame.

The school announced that the athletic department inducted Paul Nuzzolese (Class of 1960, Baseball/Football), Krystle Petty (Class of 2003, Softball), Courtney Pritchard (Class of 2004, Men’s Basketball), and John Sciarra (Class of 2006, Football) into the Hall Saturday at halftime of the school’s football game.

These former Seahawk greats were selected on the merit of their athletic prowess and overall impact on Wagner Athletics.

The ceremony was a part of Wagner Weekend.

The addition of these four individuals brings to 190 the number of members in the Wagner Hall of Fame, each representing the best among the thousands of student-athletes and contributors who have dedicated themselves to competition in the name of Wagner College.

Here’s a capsule look at each Hall of Famer:

Paul Nuzzolese – Baseball / Football (1955-1960)

* Tenacious two-way player on the football team competing as an offensive and defensive lineman

*1958 All-East All Star team selection as an offensive linemen

*Started every game of his football career

*All-Metropolitan selection in baseball from 1957-1959

*Attended a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers before deciding to return to Wagner in the spring of 1957

*Highly praised and regarded by his peers, the school received 17 letters of support for his nomination

Krystle Petty – Softball (1999-2003)

*Edison, NJ native who was a dominant pitcher throughout her four-year Seahawk career

*Wagner record holder in the following categories: career strikeouts (341), career complete games (84), single season appearances (37), single season innings pitched (215), single season complete games (27), and single season strikeouts (113)

*Second in Wagner history in the following categories: career wins (41), career shutouts (14), career saves (6) and single season wins (18)

*Fourth in Wagner history in single season strikeouts (97)

*Current head softball coach at her alma mater J.P. Stevens High School (Edison, NJ)

“Krystle was a program changer for the softball program, she was the first big time pitcher that we brought into the program and she instantly gave us credibility.” – Former Wagner Head Softball Coach Glen Payne

Courtney Pritchard– Men’s Basketball (2000-2004)

*A 6-0 guard from Southampton, NY who ranks 28th in Wagner history in career scoring with 1,147 points

*Possesses the second most career assists in Wagner men’s basketball history: (563, an average of 4.98 per game)

*Remains among the top-10 all-time at Wagner in career steals (183), single season steals (63) and single season assists (159)

*As a sophomore in 2001-02, was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, after consistency guarding opponents best perimeter defenders and averaging 1.92 steals per game.

*Member of the 2002-2003 Northeast Conference Champion Seahawks that advanced to the NCAA Tournament

*All-NEC Tournament Team during the 2002-2003 run

*All-NEC Rookie Team selection in 2000-2001

*Led Wagner to a 69-50 overall record through his four years as Seahawk

“Courtney put us over the top, he matured into a floor general coach and it raised our team to a championship level. He was a fearless competitor and never backed down from a challenge. One of those guys that you want in a fox hole with you.” – Wagner Men’s Basketball Hall of Famer and teammate – Jermaine Hall

John Sciarra– Football (2004-2006)

*Native of La Canada Flintridge, California who transferred to Wagner after two seasons at UCLA

*First in Wagner history in the following categories: career completions (473), single season passing yards (3,321), single season touchdown passes (26), single season completions (266)

*Led the Seahawks to ranks of 29th and 6th nationally in total offense during his two years as a starter

*Remains in the Top-5 all-time at Wagner in the following categories: career passing yards (5,902), career touchdown passes (40) and single season completions (207)

*Second Team All-NEC selection in 2005

*Team MVP in 2005 *Don Hansen All-American Honorable Mention in 2005

*Ranked 39th in the country in passing efficiency during the 2005 season

“Simply the best thrower of the football that Wagner has ever had.” – Wagner Athletic Director and former head football coach Walt Hameline

Staten Island Lions roar in youth football

The unbeaten Staten Island Lions clinched the Central Jersey Pop Warner 12U A division title with a 32-0 victory over the Hillsborough Duke last Sunday at Hillsborough HS.

The Lions improved to 7-0, while the Dukes fell to 5-2.

Nick Cosantino (10 carries, 78 rushing yards) scored two touchdowns — a 6-yard TD run a 68-yard punt return.

Quarterback Christian Carter hooked up with Myles Sinclair on a 23-yard pass TD. Chase Regenbogen (7 yards) and Lucas Heyman (24 yards) added TD runs.

CJ Palazola recored two sacks and forced a fumble as the Lions’ defense dominated the line of scrimmage.
