CHAMPION — Thomas H. Roberts, 73, lifelong resident of Trumbull County, passed away at home on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 29, 1947, in Youngstown, the son of Kenneth W. and Agnes I. Petty Roberts.
Tom graduated from Niles McKinley High School and served his country honorably in the Army. He worked in sales for R.L. Lipton Distributing. A strong union man, he was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 377.
Tom enjoyed all sports and had been a particularly good golfer. He was a big fan of the Buckeyes, Browns and Indians. He also enjoyed high school football and soccer. He was a great cook, and family and friends always looked forward to his delicious meals. Over the years, Tom and Sue were active volunteers with Close to Home Animal Rescue (CHAR) and fostered more than 40 dogs in their home.
Precious memories of Tom live on with his beloved wife of 17 years, Susan Stantial, whom he married April 11, 2003; two children, Thomas K. Roberts (Michelle) of Columbus and Melissa Roberts (Tyler) of Reynoldsburg; one brother, William “Billy” Roberts of Niles; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Roberts of Girard; several nieces and nephews; and his two beloved four-legged friends, Wrigley and Cubby.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Kenneth and Agnes Roberts; one brother, James Roberts; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Roberts.
