Minister for Sport and Recreation
The Rockliff Liberal Government’s standard Ticket to Play initiative is getting used for extra sports activities and lively recreation actions than ever earlier than lowering the price of participation for eligible youngsters aged between 5 and 18 years.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street mentioned that in 2023, this system has already supplied 15,374 vouchers to 7,687 youngsters throughout 43 actions, to a worth of greater than $844,000.
“After being first announced in 2018, Ticket to Play is now being used for sport and active recreation activities as diverse as surfing, roller derby, orienteering and triathlon,” Minister Street mentioned.
“Excitingly we’ve even seen vouchers used for bowls, boxing and indoor cricket for the first time.
“It’s a clear indication of the Rockliff Liberal Government’s commitment to ensuring that young people from across the State, no matter their background, have every opportunity to get involved in sport and recreation from an early age.
“Ticket to Play helps reduce the cost of participation in sport for those who need it most and allows Tasmanian children listed on a valid Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card or who are in Out of Home Care, to apply for two $100 vouchers each year to help cover sport and recreation registration costs.
“This support reaches people where they need help, and it encourages young Tasmanians and their families to be active and healthy.
“That’s what this Government stands for and we’ll continue working for the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian people through positive sport and active recreation initiatives, like Ticket to Play.”
