There will be no sports this fall at Tri-County Regional Vocational High School in Franklin due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The school made the announcement in a tweet on Twitter, Wednesday morning.
“In an effort to support a safe and seamless transition back into the school environment, Tri-County has decided to postpone all Fall 2020 sports until the start of the MIAA’s season in March, 2021. More information to follow.”

Tri-County Athletic Director Sara Martin stressed the importance of how priorities played a roll in the decision to postpone all fall sports to Fall II in late February/early March.
“It’s education based athletics,” Martin said. “We need to focus on getting back to school before we can turn our attention to getting back on the playing field.”
Back in July, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced that schools could delay the start of school no later than September 16. The MIAA Board of Directors who had previously agreed to delay the start of fall sports to September 14 voted to postpone the start of fall sports to September 18, to reflect the delayed start to school.
“Our No. 1 priority is to get it right,” Martin said. “The last thing that we would want to happen is to start the season for a few weeks and then to have to shut down again.”
