CHICAGO — Federal regulators are rising their oversight of United Airlines, the corporate introduced Friday, following a collection of current points together with a bit of the outer fuselage falling off one jet, an engine fireplace and a airplane shedding a tire throughout takeoff.

United’s vp of company security, Sasha Johnson, stated the Federal Aviation Administration will look at “multiple areas of our operation” to make sure security compliance.

“Over the next several weeks, we will begin to see more of an FAA presence in our operation as they begin to review some of our work processes, manuals and facilities,” she stated in a word to workers. “We welcome their engagement and are very open to hear from them about what they find and their perspective on things we may need to change to make us even safer.”

Johnson stated the FAA will pause certification actions however didn’t present particulars.

The company stated it “routinely monitors all aspects of an airline’s operation” and didn’t describe any extra steps it’s taking in United’s case.

In an announcement, an company spokesperson stated FAA oversight “focuses on an airline’s compliance with applicable regulations; ability to identify hazards, assess and mitigate risk; and effectively manage safety.”

Earlier this week, FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker advised NBC News, “We are going to look at each one of these incidents and see if we see a pattern. … No one likes to see this spike of incidents.”

Whitaker stated he spoke with United CEO Scott Kirby concerning the occasions.

Separately this week, Kirby tried to reassure prospects that the airline is secure, saying that the current points had been unrelated to one another.
