SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah’s professional rugby organization, the Utah Warriors, has announced new and exciting plans to build a state of the art 10,000 seat stadium and complex that the Warriors organization will call home. The project is expected to be finished by the 2023 season.

The stadium and facility will also serve as a venue for “other professional sports teams that the Warriors ownership group intends to bring to the state of Utah,” the statement reads. As well as hosting “community, high school, concerts and other entertainment-industry events.”

Utah Warriors was founded in 2018 and has competed in Major League Rugby, America’s top Rugby League, for three seasons.

“We’ve spent a lot of time building our vision for the future home of the organization, and we are excited to take the next step in this journey,” said Kimball Kjar, GM & CEO of the Utah Warriors Rugby team. “Over the last few seasons, we have built a strong fan base and following for the Warriors in the community—we’ve proven this is a rugby town,” he continued. “We intend to build a venue that supports Warriors Nation and that can allow other professional sports teams along with high school sports to play in this venue.”

New Location Unkown

Previously, the Warriors played their games at Zions Bank Stadium and practiced at the Zions Bank Real Academy adjacent to the Stadium. They shared the facilities with the Real Monarchs, a USL Championship team affiliated with Real Salt Lake.

A location for the new facility is yet to be determined, however, according to a statement by the club the decision to find a location will be made over the coming months.

2021 Season

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Major league Rugby season was canceled. Although, the league recently announced that the 2021 season will begin on March 20th with a full slate of 16 games expected to be played.
