Verna L. Maughmer, 98, of Mill Hall passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at Jersey Shore Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1922 in Beech Creek, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Hahn) Chiumenti.

Verna was a 1941 graduate of Avis High School.

On Jan. 22, 1945 in Baltimore, Md., she married Leonard M. Maughmer, Sr., with whom she shared 45 years of marriage before his passing in 1990.

Verna enjoyed doing word puzzles, watching television and especially playing with her great grandson, Zakiyah.

Surviving is her daughter, Mary Lee (Randy) Stover of Mill Hall; two grandchildren, Billie Jo Hardy and Mike Stover; and four great grandchildren: Dylan, Devon and Darrian Hardy and Zakiyah Smith.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Leonard “Lenny” Maughmer, Jr; and five siblings: Violet Rivello, Essi Chiumenti, Isabel Straub, Mary Jones and Anthony Chiumenti.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lamar Township Volunteer Fire Company through the funeral home.
