Water sports activities operators need state to dispose of new queue system | Goa News – Times of India

Calangute: Representatives of water sports activities operators from throughout the state on Friday met Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and BJP state president Sadananad Tanavade to demand that the tourism division cancel the brand new queue system for leisure boat rides.
They mentioned that the present queue system had been launched by former chief minister Manohar Parrikar in 2013, after discussions. In the present system, every locality has its personal affiliation and ticket counter with a queue system, which is working to the satisfaction of all, they mentioned, whereas talking at Lobo’s workplace in Calangute.
“We want our own counters, which we have been operating since 2013. We don’t want a GEL (Goa Electronics Ltd.) counter,” mentioned Anand Bandodkar, a water sports activities operator from Sinquerim.
“We find it difficult to understand why GEL has been brought into this when it is we who have invested in the boats and this business for all these years. For each ticket they will take Rs 50. For what? This is a money making racket,” mentioned Roy Barreto from South Goa.
Lobo and Tanavade mentioned that they might “convey the sentiments” of the water sports activities operators to the chief minister and the tourism minister. They additionally assured them that the federal government would “consider their demand sympathetically”.
