NEW DELHI: Social media giant Facebook on Monday stated that it prohibits hate speech and content that incites violence and is conducting regular audits to ensure fairness and accuracy. “We prohibit hate speech and content that incites violence and we enforce these policies globally without regard to anyone’s political position/party affiliation. We’re making progress on enforcement and conduct regular audits of our process to ensure fairness and accuracy,” a Facebook spokeperson said.
It all started when the Congress — citing a US-based daily report — called for a parliamentary panel to investigate alleged links between Facebook’s India team and the BJP.
Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp, which counts India as its biggest market with 400 million users, is waiting for regulatory clearances to launch a payment platform.
It has invested $5.7 billion in Reliance Industries’ digital unit, with the aim of serving tens of millions of small shops across India.
