Hastings DJ Ian Gornall organised for local music venues to take part in the national Light It Up Red campaign on September 30.
The campaign has been launched to draw attention to the critical condition of the UK live event and entertainment industry.
It followed on from Night of Light, in Germany, on June 22, which saw over 9,000 building, monuments and landmarks lit up in ‘emergency red’ to raise awareness.
Ian, who is the owner of Mixed Up Discos Ltd, said: “Local venues including Yates, Hastings Grand Electra, The Blackmarket VIP, in the Old Town, French’s and the Print Works wanted to get involved.
“We seem to be an industry that people have forgotten, with no help or aid and we need to unite to get the message across for the Government to listen.”
The nationwide day was planned in collaboration with the Association of UK DJs; Save DJ Entertainment; NADJ Mobile DJ Network; SEDA; The DJ Association; AMPdj and We Make Events Campaign.
