William “Bill” B. Furman, age 71, of Caroga Lake, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Furman was born on July 2, 1949, in Port Jefferson, NY. He graduated from West Islip High School and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972.
Bill had a full career as a construction superintendent and proudly served in the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department for many years, including as assistant fire chief. He was very active in his community, always ready to extend a helping hand (or tool) at a moment’s notice. He enjoyed and excelled at his many interests, hobbies and sports including hunting and fishing, golf and bowling, softball, cards, darts, billiards, horseshoe and was a mud bowl legend. Bill was an animal lover and cared deeply for his many dogs over the years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Liska Furman, whom he married on December 31, 1975; his daughter, Amelia (Furman) Nakano; his two sons, Eric Furman and his wife Erin of Colorado and Matthew Furman and his wife Suzanne of California; his two grandchildren, Summer and Chase Nakano; and his faithful fur companion, Kira.
In keeping with Mr. Furman’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life held in the spring.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, New York.
