NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — On Sunday, March 22, 2020, William Murrel Wining, 74, in his own words, “ran out of gas.”
Bill was born Oct. 19, 1945, in Youngstown, the son of Thelma Hillkirk Wining and Murrel Wilbur Wining. He was a 1963 graduate of Girard High School, where he met his bride, Patricia Jamieson.
They married in Girard on July 15, 1967, and after his time in the service, lived in McDonald, before relocating to Florida.
Bill was an Air Force veteran and served in Vietnam, where he came into contact with Agent Orange, which ultimately took his life.
To know Bill was to love him. He was a Corvette lover, motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles. He was also a lover of vintage cars. Along the way, he gathered so many friends who shared his love of motorcycles and who were great support during his illness.
Quick witted, Bill left his friends with many “Billisms” that will make them smile, whenever the situation may arise to bring them to mind.
He retired after 30 years from General Motors in Lordstown,
He leaves behind his wife, Patty; daughter, Kristy (Christian) Schabacker; grandson, Kaedin; and granddaughter, Kinsley, all of Casselberry.
Waiting to welcome him home were his son, Mark William; his sister, Nancy Altiere; and his parents and parents-in- law, Bob and Doris Jamieson.
Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Bill will be interred in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery and a memorial will be held at a later date.
