DCP (Outer Delhi) Harendra Singh informed reporters: “A PCR call was received at 3.24 am at Kanjhawala police station in Rohini district. The caller said a body was being dragged by a grey Baleno. At 4.11 am, a PCR call was again received at Kanjhawala police station which said a woman’s body was lying on the road. It was sent to SGM Hospital, Mangolpuri.”
DCP Singh stated: “The car was traced and its occupants were located. They said the car met with an accident in the Sultanpuri area. The SHO of the area had also noticed a scooter that had been in an accident and this information was lodged at the police station at 3.53 am. The scooter belonged to the woman. Spot inspection revealed that after the accident, the victim got entangled in the wheels and was dragged for quite some distance.”
During questioning, the accused informed the police that they went to Murthal on New Year’s Eve however returned quickly as a result of it was crowded. “They said they were on their way back when the car hit the scooter. They claim that they thought the woman had got up after the accident and left. The driver claimed the lane was narrow, which led to the accident. They said that after driving for nearly 4 km, they felt something dragging under the car and got down… Her legs were caught in the rear tyre… the skin from her back was completely scraped,” stated an officer.
