Lambton Public Health is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak in a local workplace.
On its website the health unit said there are five confirmed cases at an unnamed business.
The local health authority said workplace outbreaks are declared when two or more employees test positive for the virus within a reasonable timeline to suspect transmission in the workplace. It says specific businesses will only be named if a threat to the public exists.
It’s the 10th outbreak reported since March 26 and the first in a workplace. The previous nine were all institutional and linked to Bluewater Health and nursing and retirement homes, the last of which was declared over July 2.
A total of 290 of the 327 people confirmed to have been infected with the virus in Sarnia-Lambton have recovered, the death toll remains at 25, meaning there are currently 12 active cases.
Bluewater Health reported on its site Tuesday that there are no positive patients in hospital, and 23 are awaiting test results, including pre-surgical screening.
