Canberra, Australia (AP) —Comic writer Tom Taylor says he wasn’t happy with the reaction to portraying the new Superman as bisexual.

“People contacted me from everywhere and said they shed tears when they saw the headlines. They never imagined Superman could represent them,” Taylor said in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia. I told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation radio.

“I also received a message from older queer people about how much they wanted this when they were young and how grateful this generation has for this kind of expression,” he said. Added on Wednesday.

DC Comics announced on Monday’s National Coming Out Day that former Superman Clark Kent and reporter Lois Lane’s son Jon Kent will kiss male journalist friend Jon Kent.

The kiss will take place in the fifth issue of the comic series “Superman: Son of Karuel”, which will be released on November 9th. The publisher describes the new 17-year-old Superman as bisexual.

When asked by DC Comics to write a new incarnation of Man of Steel, Taylor said he decided, “This shouldn’t be another straight white story to replace Clark Kent.”

“Before I pitched it, Jamie Ritchie, then editor of DC Comics, said:’Tom, I had an idea floating around DC Comics. How about this? Do you think? “Taylor said.

“And I’m like this.” Anyway, I was going to pitch a weird Superman, so I’m on the same page before writing the page. “It worked,” Taylor added.
