(WVVA) – The WVSSAC has placed restrictions on spectators for sports and extracurricular activities for this fall.
All guidance is issued in conjunction with the West Virginia DHHR’s County Alert System, which places counties into four phases: green, yellow, orange and red.
Football, volleyball, soccer and cheer events taking place in counties with a green rating will only be attended by immediate household members of athletes and coaches. In counties with a yellow rating, attendance will be further restricted to parents of athletes and coaches’ spouses.
Golf and cross country events happening in green and yellow phase counties will be open to immediate household members of athletes and coaches.
Sports and extracurriculars will not be allowed in counties in orange or red phases.
Other guidelines include:
- Creation of ticket pre-sale and assigned seating system
- Separate entrances, restrooms for home and visiting spectators
- Frequent announcements regarding social distancing and face coverings
Face coverings will be required at all times during volleyball and cheer events. During football, soccer, golf and cross country events, face coverings will be required if social distancing cannot be maintained.
