PETOSKEY — Attendees can oick up a new painting on Saturday during a one-day juried art event in Petoskey’s Pennsylvania Park, which is sponsoried by the Big Brothers Big Sisters nonprofit organization.

The annual art show returns on the third Saturday of August each year, offering fine art in a festival setting. Patrons can browse artwork mediums including: ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and wood.

“The Big Art Show returns this year as an artful, mindful, and socially distanced art walk featuring a smaller, carefully curated group of juried artists. This event provides the perfect opportunity to physically distance, while socially connecting and discover quality, one-of-a-kind gifts, fine art and exquisite craftsmanship,” said Alyssa Bright, office manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan.

“Safety protocols will be monitored to ensure proper social distancing and an artful, socially distanced experience for both artists and attendees alike. Throughout the park, attendees will find advanced sanitation and security measures, including ample sanitizing stations, booths set at 10 feet apart and signage for social distancing,” Bright said.

The Big Art Show is a free event and open to the public. All the exhibitor booth fees contribute to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program’s efforts to arrange mentoring opportunities for children.

“We are looking for volunteer mentors to defend the potential in every child. A mentor is someone who is willing and eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time,” said Bright.
