2022 Audi A8 facelift unveiled with revised design and additional technology

2022 Audi A8 facelift unveiled with revised design and additional technology&nbsp

The Audi A8 has been and continues to be, a hugely successful model for the company and has received several updates over the years to keep the competition at bay. The A8 has often pushed the boundaries of technology, comfort, performance, and pure luxury, and for Audi to keep delivering what it promised the world, the A8 has undergone another facelift. Mind you, the 2022 version of the flagship Audi isn’t too different from the previous model, but the changes take the oomph factor if you may, one step higher. Some of the changes on the 2022 Audi A8 include a wider front grille and redesigned headlamps. What about the remaining tweaks made to the A8? We tell you.

The facelifted A8 now gets a wider single-frame grille along with a lot (and we mean a lot) of chrome taking over the front fascia. Similarly, the side air intakes are now more upright, and the redesigned headlamps make full use of Audi’s Digital Matrix LED tech which has approximately 1.3 million micromirrors on each side that break down the light into tiny pixels.

Switching attention to the back of the uber-luxurious car, you now have the digital OLED taillights with proximity sensors that are activated if another vehicle comes within two meters of a stationary A8. The facelifted model also gets four new metallic paint shades and five new matte paint shades.

There’s more: Audi is also offering the A8 with an S Line exterior package (for the first time ever) that will bring in some sportier design cues borrowed from the performance-oriented S8 model.

On the inside, there aren’t any major tweaks – the latest Audi Virtual Cockpit can be had with an optional head-up display while there is a pair of touchscreens for the center console measuring 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch. The rear passengers can also make full use of the two 10.1-inch screens now available to them.

The Audi A8 L Horch, a China-only model, is designed to rival the likes of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The Horch gets new wheels, even more chrome, hand-applied optional two-tone paint job, while on the inside there is diamond quilting, deep-pile rear floor mats, to name a few.

Powering the facelifted A8 is still a 6-cyl 3.0-litre TDI motor, a 3.0-litre TFSI motor, and a 4.0-litre TFSI engine producing 282 bhp and 335 bhp respectively. There will even be a PHEV unit (TFSIe) that will come at a later date. All the power in the engine is sent to all four wheels via the Quattro all-wheel-drive system and the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
