The race will debut in 2023, according to championship organiser Dorna Sports, who just a few days ago confirmed MotoGP’s plans to compete in India. The Buddh International Circuit will be the site of the Grand Prix of Bharat (BIC).

Officially, the MotoGP will visit India in 2023! The MotoGP organiser Dorna Sports announced the news just a week after announcing plans to work with Noida-based sports management company FairStreetSports to bring the GP to India. The Buddh International Circuit will host the race, which has been dubbed the Grand Prix Bharat.

“We’re very delighted to announce that Buddh International Circuit will be on the 2023 calendar,” said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta in reference to the Bharat GP. We are thrilled to be able to introduce the sport to our many Indian followers. Furthermore, as the summit of the two-wheeled world, “India is also a vital market for the motorcycle industry, and by extension, for MotoGP.”

Mr. Anurag Thakur, Union Sports Minister, Government of India, has added, “It’s a historical day for the sporting sector and tribute to India’s 75th year of celebration.”

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath: “It gives Uttar Pradesh enormous pride to host such a major event. MotoGP Bharat will have the full backing of our administration.

Government of Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal: “This event will significantly boost the economy by bringing in a wave of international investment to the state.”

As we have stated, there is still a lot of work to be done, particularly on the BIC, given how close the event is and the significant refurbishment circuit officials will need to make. It might be well worth the effort, given the revenue that will accrue as a result of this event returning to the nation over the course of at least the following seven years.
