Winner of the 61st Jakhama Youth Organization (JYO) sports meet with officials and others on November 6.
Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The four-day 61st Jakhama Youth Organization (JYO) sports meet concluded on Saturday evening at Jakhama local ground, about 17 km away from the state capital.
Altogether, about 800 sportspersons from eight khels — Phema, Khatso-Natso, Zhotso, Kulnu, Porütso, Naki, Pfüdia and Sophietso competed in the mega event of Jakhama village.
Zhotso Khel emerged as the champions in the football (men) after defeating Phema Khel 3-0 in the final via tie-breaker after both teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
Earlier, during the thrilling encounter, Phema took the lead with the opening goal of the match coming through Hosal Khieya. However, Zhotso Khel soon restored parity and found the equaliser through the boots of Mhashezo Zhotso few minutes later and went on to clinch the victory.
Vilthe Zhotso was awarded the player of the tournament while best goalkeeper went to Nothongol Zhotso during the prize distribution ceremony. The highest scorer’s award was shared by the five players — Kulse Zhotso, Mhashezo Zhotso, Hosal Khieya, Punozo Zao and Sweyiekul Khatso — who scored two goals each.
In the men’s volleyball, Naki Khel beat Zhotso Khel while Zhotso Khel defeated Khatso-Natso Khel in the women’s volleyball final respectively.
Mezizoto Tetso of Naki Khel received the best spiker award while Zhoketo Zhotso bagged the best setter award in the men’s volleyball. The best setter went to Vizasele Khatso while best spiker went to Nozosenu Zhotso in the women’s volleyball.
The athletic events were conducted during on October 3 and 4. In the athletics, Kevikhünu Khatso won the women’s individual champion title while Vishüto Rolnu of Kulnu Khel secured the men’s individual champion title.
Khatso-Natso emerged as the overall champion khel after the end of the sports meet with 44 points.
Toba Khatso, executive engineer, Urban Development, exhorted the players and handed over prizes to the winners.
