Born to Mohammed Jameel Ahmed and Parvin Sultana in 1996, in modern-day Telangana, Nikhat Zareen is one in all India’s prime pugilists for the time being. She started her boxing journey underneath her father, Jameel Ahmed, and ultimately joined SAI Vishakhapatnam in 2009 to coach underneath Dronacharya Awardee, IV Rao.

Only at 15, she received gold within the AIBA Women’s Junior and Youth World Boxing Championship in Turkey and made a mark on this planet boxing enviornment. Since then, she has received a number of nationwide and worldwide tournaments together with a gold on the Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament in 2019, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Zareen secured India’s third gold medal on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham by triumphing over Carly McNaul from Northern Ireland with a flawless 5-0 victory within the 48–50 kg class, also called the sunshine flyweight class. Her first main multisport gold medal for the nation.

Her first World Championship title was on May 19, 2022. Zareen clinched the gold medal within the 52 kg class defeating Jitpong Jutamas from Thailand within the flyweight closing held in Istanbul, Turkey. This accomplishment made Zareen the fifth Indian feminine boxer to safe a gold medal on the World Championships, becoming a member of the ranks of Mary Kom, Laishram Sarita Devi, Jenny RL and Lekha KC. Notably, she grew to become solely the second Indian boxer to realize a gold medal on the World Championships on overseas soil, following within the footsteps of MC Mary Kom, who achieved this feat 4 instances out of her six gold medals. She has efficiently defended her IBA World Championship title in New Delhi, in 2023. Nikhat secured her second World Championship gold medal in March, 2023. She achieved this feat by claiming a 5-0 victory over Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam within the 48-50 kg class.

She needed to accept a bronze medal on the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou. Her semi-final defeat to Thailand’s Raksat Chuthamat within the girls’s 50kg class decided her placement within the competitors.
