When Sacha Baron Cohen ran into legal trouble over his political satire show “Who is America?,” he called Rachel Strom for help.

Strom is a first amendment media lawyer at the firm Davis Wright Tremaine, where she represents Hollywood and news media companies in defamation, privacy, and copyright cases.

Former Republican senate candidate Roy Moore sued Cohen for defamation over a sketch on the show that portrayed him as a sex offender. Strom got the $95 million lawsuit thrown out, and she’s helped

, the hit TV show “Billions,” and Jimmy Kimmel quash other legal allegations.  

Strom, who joined Davis Wright as a partner in 2017, is also an advocate for journalists. In a high-profile case where Michael Cohen, former President Trump’s attorney, sued the United States of America over records the FBI seized in a raid, Strom helped The New York Times, ABC, CNN, and other news organizations secure access to court proceedings that would’ve otherwise been sealed to the public.

When she’s not defending media companies in court, Strom helps reporters and other content-makers review their work before publication to make sure nothing potentially iffy goes out.

It’s a dream job for Strom, whose nickname growing up was the “walking TV guide.”

“A lot of people get into first amendment work because they love the Constitution,” she said. “I got into this because I just love content. I watch an unbelievable amount of hours of TV and movies. I always have a podcast in my ear.”

Strom shared what her typical day looks like and how she juggles life as a partner at an elite law firm with her two kids and husband — a high-end real estate photographer who’s the primary caretaker at their home in Brooklyn  —  while carving out crucial TV time.
