A Precious Child will host its annual fundraising gala, which this year is themed “Seas the Night,” Oct. 3.

In light of COVID-19, the organization has transitioned the traditionally in-person gala to a virtual event.

Registration is open and the event is free to attend. People can learn more and register by visiting bit.ly/seasthenight. The pre-show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature a mixology session so attendees can mix up the evening’s signature cocktail at their home.

The program will start at 7 p.m.

Lance Carl, associate athletic Director at University of Colorado Boulder, will be the emcee for the evening and the event will continue with a special performance by Thunderstorm Artis, a finalist on Season 18 of The Voice, according to a news release from the organization.

The event will also feature a silent auction and a virtual “selfie booth.”

According to the nonprofit, A Precious Child is “devoted to providing children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential.” A Precious Child has provided emergency essentials, such as hygiene items, cleaning supplies, diapers and wipes, clothing and other resources to the area’s most vulnerable population.

All community members are invited to join A Precious Child for this event in support of Colorado’s most valuable resource, its children, said Courtney Wickberg, chief communications officer with A Precious Child.

“Although we’re not able to be together in person, there has never been a more critical time for us to come together as a community to support the most vulnerable among us,” Carina Martin, CEO and Founder of A Precious Child, said. “It is in moments like these where we are the closest as we step up to serve Colorado’s children.”

Examples of how donations dollars benefit the community include: $50 providing a baby with diapers, wipes, baby food and baby gear valued at $400; a $100 donation could provide two children a bag with cake mix, frosting, candles and a gift to celebrate their birthday; and $250 could provide five children with a new backpack filled with grade-appropriate school supplies, according to the nonprofit website.

A $1,000 donation could provide four children with laptops or professional tutoring and a $500 could provide one child with the support they need to participate in sports programs by helping to cover costs associated with registration fees, uniforms and equipment.

The 9th Annual giveSPORTS Equipment Drive, which is done in partnership with Kroenke Sports Charities, took place Saturday.

Thanks to community donors, an entire Ball Corporation semi-truck was filled with sports equipment for children in need, Wickberg said. More than $25,000 was raised thanks to Brannan Companies and Patch My PC. That money will go directly to help pay for the fees that come with sports and other activities for children in need.

“Now, more than ever, it is important to provide opportunities to keep kids active, as families spend increased time at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Wickbergsaid. “Participation in extracurricular sports significantly impacts short and long-term educational, emotional, behavioral and physical outcomes for disadvantaged youth.”
