Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar right this moment had delicate warning for WhatsApp because the messaging platform, on its Twitter deal with, posted a graphic that confirmed an incorrect map of India. 

In highlighting India on the globe, the map excluded Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and a few Indian territories claimed by China.

In a “request” to WhatsApp to appropriate it, the minister stated in a quote-tweet: “All platforms that do business in India and/or want to continue to do business in India, must use correct maps.”

Mr Chandrasekhar tagged Meta, the corporate that owns WhatsApp amongst different platforms akin to Facebook and Instagram.

It was inside hours of WhatsApp sending out the tweet — publicising its multi-location livestream for New Year’s Eve — that the minister observed and addressed Meta round 4 pm.

The authentic tweet by WhatsApp had not been taken down but, when this report was written at 5.30 pm.
