The seventh week of the Alabama high school sports season is in the books, which means it’s time to vote for the top athlete in the Gadsden area in the past week.

This week’s candidates include a returning quarterback, a kicker and more. The vote closes at noon on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Keelan Vice, Southside volleyball

Recorded 54 kills, 22 digs, 14 blocks and eight aces as the Panthers picked up victories over Pell City, Geraldine, Ider and Faith Christian and also won the Etowah County tournament.

Will Green, Fort Payne football

Had two interceptions and added a sack in a 24-16 victory over Southside.

Abi Bunt, Glencoe

Finished the week with 84 assists, 53 digs, 10 aces, eight kills and a block as the Yellow Jackets finished as the runners-up in the Etowah County Tournament and also won matches over Etowah and Sardis.

Omareon’ Finch, Etowah football

Made three catches for 62 yards and two scores in a 44-0 victory over Hanceville.

Daimon Hitchcock, Southside football

Caught the ball four passes times for 161 yards and scored a touchdown as the Panthers could not come all the way back from a 24-16 loss to Fort Payne.

Keaton Deboard, Collinsville football

Ran 18 times for 110 yards and a touchdown in a 41-7 loss to Plainview. His touchdown run was a 75-yarder one in the fourth quarter.
