ALCONA — An Alcona Community Schools football player is in self-quarantine after coming into close contact this weekend with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Superintendent Dan O’Connor on Tuesday informed parents of the exposure in a letter. He said Monday’s football practice was canceled until details of the exposure can be confirmed.

The district is working with officials from District Health Department No. 2, which has notified impacted students and staff about self-quarantine.

Alcona High School Students are attending high school virtually. O’Connor said students will continue to complete school remotely.

The letter encouraged parents to monitor their child or children for the onset of symptoms related to coronavirus. Questions about COVID-19 can be directed to DHD No. 2 by calling 989-345-5020.
