Ludhiana: For taking a decision regarding treatment of legacy waste kept at Jainpur, where a sports park has to come up on 32 acres, cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu took two experts along to the site on Saturday. The experts will submit their report in 10 days. The sports park is coming up at this place under the smart city mission. The consultants of smart city had estimated Rs 20 crore cost for lifting the old heaps of garbage lying at the dump.
The minister, however, claimed that they had taken the experts along, who would now study everything and would give their report. He said the cost to transport the legacy waste, which is actually landfill now, was on the higher side, so they would have to wait for the report.
There is a proposal to develop sports park at this place, where space will be kept for all outdoor games. The project is being prepared under smart city mission.
Meanwhile, the cabinet minister, along with LIT chairman Raman Balasubramanium, also visited the leisure valley and work on its second part was also kicked off. In the beginning of rainy season the problem of water-logging had surfaced at leisure valley but now that issue had been resolved.
The chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust claimed that the first part of the leisure valley was complete and now the second part had been started. He said the second part would take some time as they had to construct canopies and sitting place for senior citizens, etc.
