Hubballi: An Indian athlete, Devappa More, 50, a 3-feet-tall man from Kadankoppa village in Kalghatagi taluk of Dharwad, who was pushed into bother resulting from a drought-like scenario within the district, obtained assist from the folks of Hubballi.

VSV Prasad, chairman, Swarna Group of Companies, declared a monetary help of Rs 1 lakh to Devappa. “It is not the first time we are helping him, in 2021, when I came to know that Devappa More and his family was going through severe financial problems due to Covid-19, I visited his village and gave him Rs 30,000 to repair his house and gave assistance for his daughter’s education,” he recalled.
Veeranna Savadi, secretary, KGA, stated that it’s a matter of pleasure {that a} dwarf sportsman from Dharwad district is representing India within the World Dwarf Games. “After reading a story in TOI on Friday, KGA management decided to extend a helping hand to the sportsman, and also felicitate and wish him the best in the world games. On Sunday morning we felicitated him and also helped him for his journey,” he stated.
“I strongly appeal to the district administration, and the Karnataka government to encourage such sporting person by all means. It’s unfortunate to know that the district administration is not at all bothered. KGA will always encourage and motivate sporting activities and also sport personalities in need,” he added.
