Barbie’ Leads UK Home Entertainment Charts 

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie topped the UK’s dwelling leisure charts in 2023 with 700k gross sales throughout platforms, in keeping with figures launched by the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) and Official Charts Company (OCC). The figures state the worth of the UK Home Entertainment Category rose to £4.9bn in 2023. The rise was pushed by the continuing surge in client uptake of subscription providers, with over 56 million subscriptions in 2023, a 5.4% year-on-year rise. Elsewhere within the report, BASE and OCC stated Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was the most important launch on Blu-ray within the UK in 2023, with a price of £1.1m15 on Blu-ray alone. 

‘Barbie’ & ‘Oppenheimer’ Among Association Of Motion Picture Sound Honorees 

The UK-based Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) has introduced the nominees for its 2024 Excellence In Sound awards. The checklist of nominees contains Barbie (Warner Bros), Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, (Paramount), Oppenheimer (Universal), Saltburn (Amazon), and The Zone Of Interest (A24). Final voting will begin on 15 January and shut on 25 January. In addition to Supervising crew members, AMPS honors Key 1st Assistant Sound/(Boom Operators) and Supervising Dialogue/ADR Editors. “The nominees showcase a remarkable blend of creativity and technical mastery. These exceptional films highlight the varied and dynamic landscape of the craft of sound in film, each presents distinct audio demands executed to a fantastic degree, making the decision for AMPS voters a truly challenging one,” stated AMPS Chair Andrew Wilson.
