Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., the biggest producer of recent eggs within the U.S., has briefly halted manufacturing at considered one of its services after hen flu was detected there, the corporate announced Tuesday.

The firm misplaced about 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets, or about 3.6% of its flock, because of the outbreak, it stated. The virus was detected at a facility in Parmer County, Texas.

Cal-Maine Foods, which is predicated in Mississippi, stated it would depend on different services within the meantime to “minimize disruption to its customers.”

Earlier this week, the Texas Department of State Health Services introduced that a man contracted bird flu by way of an outbreak of the illness amongst dairy cattle. He is the second individual within the U.S. identified to be contaminated with the virus.

The CDC says the probability of somebody getting hen flu could be very low, and that an individual can not contract it from eggs which are cooked and saved correctly.
