Jisoo from Korean girl group BLACKPINK has been confirmed as the star of a new drama produced by SKY Castle.

As reported by soompi.com, the 25 year-old singer will play the leading role in the drama Snowdrop

The show is written by Yoo Hyun Mi and directed by Jo Hyun Tak, SKY Castle’s frequent collaborators.

It will be Jisoo’s first major debut in the acting world, after having played cameo roles in KBS 2TV’s Producer and tvN’s Arthdal Chronicles

With the group, Jisoo is reportedly preparing BLACKPINK’s first full album, which is slated for release on Oct. 2. The group has also released a teaser for a collaboration with American singer Selena Gomez.

Jisoo was trained as an entertainer by YG Entertainment, which she joined in 2011, and debuted with BLACKPINK on Aug. 8, 2016. Jisoo, who can speak Japanese and Chinese, is the oldest member of the group.

The singer has been cited as one of the most popular South Koreans in the world. According to Korea’s annual music poll in 2018, Jisoo was ranked the 10th most popular idol in South Korea, receiving 4.8 percent of the vote. (gis/wng)
