A new book by RSS functionary Ram Madhav, providing concrete insights into the integral humanism philosophy propounded by philosopher-politician Pt Deendayal Upadhyay, was released on Monday, announced publishing house Westland.

The book, ”The Hindutva Paradigm: Integral humanism and quest for a non-western worldview”, is claimed to be an ”interesting piece on philosophy which gives an answer to managing the new world order”.

”Historically, Europe has been the mother of ideologies while India has been the land of ideas. It has not produced any ideologues like Marx or Mill neither did it articulate any ideologies. Yet, deeply philosophical ideas of its sages and savants have continuously inspired and influenced mankind across history and geography,” said Madhav about the book.

”The Integral Humanism philosophy propounded by philosopher-politician Pt Deendayal Upadhyay is one such idea. The Hindutva Paradigm is my humble attempt at re-interpreting the idea of Integral Humanism through a 21st century lens,” he added.

The book comprises 15 chapters and a concluding essay.

While the first three chapters deal with the life of Upadhyay, the political situation in the country during that period and a summary of Upadhyay’s four lectures on integral humanism; the remaining 12 chapters deal with various aspects of the integral humanist philosophy.

”I have tried to look at his ideas from the prism of western philosophical doctrines and contested many contemporary Western ideas in its light,” writes the 57-year-old author in the preface of the book.

According to the publishers, over five decades ago Upadhyay articulated the philosophy of integral humanism, at the core of which was ”human-centric development”. ”At the crossroads where we stand, this refreshingly stimulating philosophy may be the answer to managing the new world order,” they said in a statement.

Madhav, who also served as the national general secretary of the BJP, has previously authored several books including ”Uneasy Neighbours: India and China after Fifty Years of the War” (2014) and ”Because India Comes First: Reflections on Nationalism, Identity and Culture” (2020).
