Students at Boston University chanted “pay your writers” as Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav gave the graduation deal with on the establishment’s commencement Sunday, amid a writers’ strike that has been impacting the tv and movie business.

Zaslav graduated from BU’s regulation college in 1985 and was being given an honorary diploma. On Sunday, he advised college students how essential it’s to be respectful and sort. But he paused a number of occasions as some college students booed, chanted and turned their backs.

Before this system started, about 200 folks have been protesting exterior Nickerson Field, the commencement venue, holding up indicators that learn “Protect Residuals Not CEOs” and “Private Jets But No Fair Wages,” BU Today reported.

The college received backlash earlier this month when a day after the Writers Guild of America went on strike on May 2 it introduced its resolution to have Zaslav because the graduation speaker.

This is the union’s first strike in 15 years, because it was unable to succeed in a take care of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents main studios, comparable to Discovery-Warner, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Paramount, Sony and NBC Universal. “The picket is in no way meant to stop students, families, or faculty from attending the graduation ceremony, or to disrupt the ceremony,” WGA East tweeted.
