LaRue receives funding for new water tank

MARION – LaRue is receiving $666,601 to replace the village’s drinking water storage tank. The loan includes $330,492 in principal forgiveness, meaning this amount does not have to be repaid.

The funds are part of more than $82 million dollars recently awarded to Northwest Ohio communities to improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure and make other water quality improvements.

Marion County Public Health will also receive a $100,000 principal forgiveness loan for the repair and replacement of household sewage treatment systems. The funding will help low-income property owners repair or replace failing household sewage treatment systems; these loans do not have to be repaid.

Statewide, Ohio EPA awarded more than $466 million in loans during the first half of 2020, including $25.5 million in principal forgiveness. Combined, Ohio communities will save more than $90.9 million when compared to market-rate loans.

Live entertainment resumes at the May Pavilion

MARION – Entertainment seekers can enjoy a live comedy event at the Marion Palace Theatre May Pavilion this weekend. Shovel City Improv will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Marion’s own improv troupe, Shovel City Improv, will be the first entertainers to take the May Pavilion stage since the theatre’s reopening. These hometown comedians keep audience members laughing with interactive sketches at each performance. The rotational pool of seasoned stage actors includes Daniel Bradshaw, Kim Bradshaw, Mike Cochran, Bruce Cudd, Diana Dailey, Hannah Fuller, Justen LaPlante and Eric Mosley.  Taking the phrase “audience participation” to a whole new level, members of the audience suggest random ideas for the games and skits that the actors perform on the spot. Nothing is scripted.

This event is recommended for ages 16 and older. Tickets are $10. Seating is limited to allow for social distancing. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at marionpalace.org or in person or by phone at the Palace Box Office, 276 W. Center St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday when staffing is available.

Enhanced protocols in accordance with current local health and safety guidelines are in place. Staff and volunteers will wear face masks and assist in seat selection to assure proper spacing.
