Premier League returns on BT Sport

Saturday, 11.30am, BT Sport 1 HD, BT Sport Ultimate and online

The Premier League starts on BT Sport on Saturday with a tantalising London derby between Fulham and Arsenal (12.30pm KO) before Crystal Palace welcome Southampton to Selhurst Park (3pm KO).

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners make the short journey to Fulham to take on Scott Parker’s newly promoted side, who are hoping for a more successful return to the top flight than they managed two seasons ago, when a £100m outlay couldn’t stop them finishing in the bottom three. A rejuvenated Arsenal will be hoping to build on impressive FA Cup and Community Shield victories.

Crystal Palace resume proceedings against a Southampton side who found their form towards the end of last season. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Saints, inspired by the scintillating form of Danny Ings, finished 11th after a poor start. Palace, buoyed by the arrival of Eberechi Eze and the impressive pre-season form of Wilfried Zaha, are aiming higher than last term’s 14th-placed finish.

Both matches are available in stunning ultra-high definition on BT Sport Ultimate on TV and via the revolutionary enhanced video player on either BTSport.com or the award-winning BT Sport app – with interactive timelines and multi-camera replay functionality.

BT Sport Score (3pm) will follow every Premier League game, providing all the goals, news and analysis across the day’s action.

Anthony Yarde is back

Saturday, 7.30pm, BT Sport 1 HD, BT Sport Ultimate and online

Anthony Yarde makes his first televised ring return after coming agonisingly close to dethroning WBO world light-heavyweight Sergey Kovalev in Russia last August.

‘The Beast’ was seconds away from a colossal shock in Chelyabinsk but the seasoned Russian pounced on a tiring Yarde late on to land an 11th-round knockout and retain his title.

Yarde takes on domestic rival Dec Spelman on Saturday from 7.30pm, in what will prove an ideal chance to directly compare himself against potential future opponent Lyndon Arthur, who last month edged out Spelman on points.

“This will be all about me reminding people that I am the force of the division and I am heading right back to the top, where I intend to dominate and reign for a long time to come,” said Yarde.

Promoter Frank Warren said: “Spelman is not an easy fight for anyone, but if Anthony comes through we’ll be on course for Yarde v Arthur later this year hopefully.”

The much-anticipated middleweight showdown between Mark Heffron and Denzel Bentley for the chance to face British champion Liam Williams also takes place on the Yarde v Spelman undercard.

The vacant IBF European title will also be on the line at welterweight when Cedrick Peynaud meets English champion Ekow Essuman.

Grand Prix of San Marino

Sunday, 7.15am, BT Sport 2 HD and online

MotoGP returns to BT Sport after a three-week break this weekend. The fastest show on two wheels heads to Misano for the Grand Prix of San Marino in one of the most fiercely contested championships in recent memory.

With champion Marc Marquez still out of action as he recovers from the broken arm he suffered in the opening race in Jerez, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo goes into the weekend with a narrow three-point lead in the standings ahead of Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.

Australian Jack Miller occupies third place ahead of South Africa’s Brad Binder, who sensationally won his first MotoGP race in only his third start with victory in the Czech Republic in August.

MotoGP is set to embark on three weeks of successive races, with two from Misano and one in Catalonia.

With so much at stake in a season unlike any other, the San Marino Grand Prix promises to thrill.

Don’t miss all the build up to the race with full and uninterrupted coverage of the free practice, qualifying and warm-up sessions. We’ll also, of course, be showing the Moto2 and Moto3 races.

And after you catch your breath, Chequered Flag will round up the weekend’s talking points with the very best analysis, featuring BT Sport pundits and exclusive interviews.
