Cricket and rugby broadcaster Ian Smith has introduced that he will likely be leaving the Sky Sports broadcasting staff after 23 years with the community. The former Black Cap Smith, 65, made the announcement on his radio present with Senz on Monday morning that the choice to go away Sky TV, was by “mutual agreement”.

“I can reveal I am no longer a Sky TV contractor,” Smith said. “I completed on the thirty first of December. Even now, at my tender age, I’ve to reset my sights and objectives and it is damned thrilling, I’ve received to say.”

2019 ODI World Cup

Smith had a number of iconic moments on air, probably the most noticebale being his commentary through the 2019 ODI World Cup in England. Smith’s burst of bringing the sport to the listener peaked on the fag finish of video games as was seen throughout New Zealans semi last victory in opposition to India and the dramatic last in opposition to England.

In a tense super-over last betweeen New Zealand and England, Smith matched the onfield drama with some sensible work within the commentary field.

Smith had been a commentator at Sky for “23 years-plus”. During that interval he was considered considered one of New Zealand’s most insightful and educated cricket broadcasters.
