Vintage horror films return to Santa Cruz

Thursday and Saturday

Santa Cruz Cinema, located at 1405 Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz, has scheduled an exclusive showing of vintage horror films during Halloween week.

On Thursday, Oct. 28, Classic Horror Film Fest arrives just in time for Halloween. Feature films will be The Mummy (1932), The Phantom of the Opera (1989), Frankenstein (1931), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Dracula (1931).

On Saturday, Oct. 30, you can catch a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and earlier in the day, kids can come to watch Gremlins.

Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.

Join the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History for the Día de los Muertos community celebration of traditional music, dance and art at Evergreen Cemetery.

Enjoy live performances by Senderos’ Centeotl Danza y Baile and Ensamble Musical de Senderos. Stroll through the cemetery in a self-guided presentation of community altars. Follow the signs through the grounds to view ofrendas (altars) honoring those buried at Evergreen Cemetery created by local community organizations and members.
