“It was just six months ago that my treatment was completed. It was a long and painful process as chemotherapy takes a toll on the body. But I decided to run in the marathon not just to overcome my apprehensions but also to spread awareness about cancer,” Chawla advised TOI.
Chawla, a home-maker, has been practising to run within the 5-km class and she or he has additionally roped in a private coach to construct her stamina. “Next time, I may go for a 10-km run,” she added. Apart from Chawla, Babita Agarwal, Dr Parul Shah and Seema Gupta, all most cancers survivors, will take part within the run. “I am running in the Vadodara Marathon to create awareness about the disease. Despite being educated, many miss out on the early symptoms. I was lucky to have been diagnosed early and got the treatment in time,” mentioned Agarwal who runs NGO ‘Muskaan’ spreading consciousness in regards to the illness and supporting most cancers survivors and their households.
