‘Like other theatres, the Capitol Centre has been hit hard financially by this pandemic’

Since the pandemic first shut down the Capitol Centre, the organization has lost the revenue of shows, rentals, and income from two major annual fundraising events.

With a goal to recoup some of the money lost from cancelled fundraisers, the Capitol Centre is hosting an online streamathon on Tuesday, October 20.

The event, called STREAMATHON 10·20·20, will stream live on Facebook from the Betty Speers Theatre and will be hosted in partnership with  KISS 100.5, 101.9 Rock and Country 600.

The event will include both live and recorded entertainment.

“Like other theatres, the Capitol Centre has been hit hard financially by this pandemic,” said Dan Misturada, Director of Programming and Events. “Losing our Golf Tournament and our Annual Hops & Vines event really hurt because they typically account for over $35,000 of our annual fundraising revenue. We’d like to recoup some of that lost revenue by hosting STREAMATHON 10·20·20.”

“The show must go on,” says radio host Kevin Oschefski. “In times like these, we need the joy of entertainment now more than ever. “

The Capitol Centre will release more details about STREAMATHON 10·20·20 in the coming weeks.
