This COVID-19 pandemic transformed the year 2020 into the scariest roller-coaster ride the world has ever seen. But there’s no denying the call for reflection, re-evaluation and gratitude. Many parents are seeing the silver lining to the clouds of doubt, basking in the bliss of their bundles of joy. The Sunday Gleaner did a check and realised that quite a few celebrities recently welcomed adorable additions to their families. Among them are Romain Virgo, Denyque, Samantha J, Jahvillani, Amita, Tessanne, Warren Weir, Leon Bailey, Andre Russell and Usain Bolt. Here we introduce a few of the baby blessings of 2020.

Blessings multiplied for the Virgos

Promising to be heroes to their beautiful twins are Romain and Elizabeth Virgo. Recording artiste Romain’s new single Hero features heartwarming visuals of the first-time parents and their beautiful daughters, who share their January 24 birthday with Daddy. “There’s no greater gift that anyone could give on this my 30th birthday to make me this happy,” Romain wrote on Instagram at the time.

Romain explained that becoming a father was always a part of his dream. “As I got older I realised it’s more than just a title, but being able to actually play the true role of a father is what really matters. All I want to do now is give my children the opportunities that I never had. They should always feel a sense of security, both physically and emotionally.”

The entertainer’s commitment and dedication to his twins and wife are real family goals.

It’s baby number two for Denyque

Supergirl Denyque rolled into the new year with baby number two, Princess Dylann Drew. When the reggae/dancehall artiste found out that she was having a girl the second time around, she was over the moon and grateful. “Being alive and being one with God is one thing, but Dylann Drew is definitely my biggest blessing for 2020.”

Dylann Drew, who was born in March of this year, just prior to the COVID-19 hit, is described by her proud Mommy as pleasant and full of joy. “I truly see God when I look at her. She’s strong, resilient and fights sleep like a champ. I see so much of me in her already. She and her brother, Connor, both look like Daddy but they absolutely have Mama’s soul.”

Amita welcomes her second princess

Entrepreneur and social media influencer, Amita Persaud Webb, recently welcomed her second daughter, Aasmi, in April, in the heat of the pandemic, and she could not be any happier for the blessing. When asked how she felt when she heard she was going to have another princess, Amita responded, “Excited! Who wouldn’t want another girl?”

She described this particular journey as different from her first time because Aasmi was born prematurely and with a heart condition, “Taking care of her has been an eye-opening one and a heart-opening one,” she added.

Amita also had this to say, “Given that we are in the midst of pandemic, Aasmi is definitely my biggest blessing this year. 2020 is a special year both personally and worldwide – many souls have moved on this year. But, in the midst of turmoil, there’s always hope.” As for how similar Asami is to her Mommy and big sister Avani, Amita declared that she loves her belly so she fits right in.
