COVID-19 Map Update Keeps Sports on Hold in Several West Virginia Counties

West Virginia’s weekly COVID-19 map update brought another round of bad news Saturday for athletes, coaches, fans and parents in several West Virginia counties.

The map, used as a school re-entry guide for West Virginia counties, labels individual counties as green, yellow, orange or red. Schools in green and yellow counties are allowed to play games, schools in orange and red counties are not.

As a result of this week’s map from the West Virginia Department of Education, 28 high school football games, including some scheduled as makeup games on Monday, are off the schedule.

  • Riverside at Capital
  • George Washington at Huntington
  • Oak Hill at Lincoln County
  • Wheeling Park at University
  • Morgantown at Hedgesville
  • Nitro at Chapmanville
  • Herbert Hoover at Clay County
  • Poca at Logan
  • Man at Mingo Central
  • PikeView at James Monroe
  • Winfield at Wayne
  • Meadow Bridge at East Hardy
